Alan- Qualifying sprint round seeding has changed in the past few years. At
the world and national levels there's been an increasing emphasis put on the
flying 200m times. To stay ahead of this trend I believe that we all need to
practice and improve our flying 200m time trials. To the extent that we need
to treat Flying 200m time trials and Match Sprinting as two separate events.
This can be difficult to do for some "pure sprinters". There are a lot of
match sprinters out there that need a rider in front of or next to them going
into the last 200m. Their speciality is coming around and they do it well.

Therefore, I'd suggest practicing the "time trial" part of the 200m as well as
your match sprinting. Experiment with different gears. Wear the proper
clothes and use the right equipment. Lastly, you might want to have a coach
watch a) your wind-up (long or short dependent on your "jump", b) your line
down the track, c) when you are up to full speed, d) how you sit, e) your body
and head position during the 200m, etc.

Montgomery-Bell Masters Cycling Team. Not a coach and not a sprinter, but I
did win the '93 Masters Nationals sprint title (to my surprise).
